  • Camila Dejesus

    Magazine & Media Editor, Camila Dejesus has been writing since she was a child and enjoys all forms from creative writing down to narrative analysis. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a bachelor's in Television and Radio Production and works full-time at Latinitas Magazine. In her free time, she loves writing stories, water coloring, or playing songs on her Baritone Ukulele. Now, her greatest passion is finding new topics that will engage and inspire Latinx youth.

  • Jenny Castro

    Jenny Castro is a part of the editorial team for Latinitas Magazine. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Justice from Central Washington University, and also holds a certificate in women’s entrepreneurial studies from the University of Washington. Jenny has a passion for storytelling, and loves highlighting diverse topics such as historical events, pop-culture, music, film, and leaders in the Latino community. She strives to provoke thoughtful and factual genuine storytelling in her pieces and takes pride in researching truth and authenticity. In her free time, she spends time reading her favorite books, and watching classic Hollywood films. In 2020, Jenny also appeared on the Turner Classic Movies Network where she provided commentary on classic film. She is excited to be a part of the Latinitas team.

  • Sonia Sanchez

    Sonia Sanchez is a vibrant journalist with Mexican roots that has a penchant for spreading good news. Her journey into journalism began at The Dateline, the student-run newspaper for The University of Houston-Downtown. She has a Master of Science in Technical Communication and Bachelor of Science in Professional Writing. She is also a Latina in Tech that runs a technical writing business called Simply Write for clients such as HP, Inc. She enjoys taking Hip-Hop and Street Jazz dance classes around Houston for fun. Recognized for her contributions to journalism, Sonia received a scholarship from the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals. With a passion for cultural topics and a dedication to uplifting the Latino community, Sonia continues to make her mark as a journalist with heart and credibility. She is also passionate about the advancement of women, especially Latinas.

  • Indira Zaldivar

    Indira is a bilingual multimedia journalist, writer, editor, content producer, and reggaeton fan with Honduran roots based in Houston, Texas. She is a passionate storyteller, worm farmer, and nature lover. She works for Houston's leading Hispanic bilingual publication, Que Onda Magazine, and volunteers as a Board Member of the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals and as a Texas Master Naturalist.

  • Stefhanie Lazo

    For me being a writer has always been a way to express myself and provide a voice to my thoughts. I’m a Salvadoran woman who has alway dreamt about one day having a chance to express herself and make a difference in the world; even before coming to UUEE. But I won’t lie, when I got for the first time into a classroom in a United States high school I couldn’t see myself doing any of this stuff, not without first going through a huge change, but now seven years late, been so close to get graduate from college I got the chance to work with the Latinitas team as a writer in Spanish language and it feels like the world has paid me off for all the effort that one day I did by not giving up my dreams.

  • Mirely Salinas

    Mirely Salinas is a Volunteer Writer at Latinitas Magazine. She is currently getting her bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Human Development and a minor in Educational Psychology. Mirely's passion for writing started at a young age, writing FanFiction and other short stories in middle school. Now that she is in college, her love for writing has only grown. Mirely is also a writer for the online magazine HerCampus. In her free time, she likes going on walks with her dog Oliver, trying out new coffee shops in Austin, and reading cheesy romance novels. She hopes to one day work with children, where she can ignite a love of reading and writing within her students just as she carries inside her.

  • Rose Torres

    Rose Torres is a second-year MFA candidate at LSU, with a focus in poetry and screenwriting. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Rose previously worked at UT's University Writing Center, assisting undergraduate students in developing their high-order thinking, grammar, and overall voice. Her writing focuses on memorializing mundane moments and exploring how it feels to be a young Latina who has many unanswered questions. She enjoys green tea.
